Biography

Born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Michaële LAFONTANT is the author of several publications: Poetry, novels, literary and cinema essays. "Desert Etoilé" (Starry Desert), which is a collection of poems published by Caractères editions (Paris), won the "prix Caraibes" (the West Indies award) in 1995, gave by the "Association des Ecrivains de Langue Française" (the association of French language writers). The same year, the same editor published "Etoiles d'Ivresse" (Stars of Ecstasy) which is also a collection of poems. In her latest publication called "Chants d'Amour et de Sagesse" (Songs of Love and Wisdom), published in 2001, the happy mix of poetic and pictorial creations reveals the talents of an artist who creates, with the magic of colours, an enchanted universe which is evidence of an individual and collective actual experience full of the charms of the West Indies. At the moment, Michaële LAFONTANT is a cultural adviser in the Haiti's embassy in France.
