Dear Net surfers,

For numerous years, you have been paying attention to the activity of Mémoire de l'Outre-mer. You have been able to perceive the dynamism and the will to convert Nantes into a place of memory.

Our actual premises are too narrow, so that the association is not able to run its activities. The board of directors decided to find a more adequate place to achieve its future stakes.

In March 2000, we acquired a new space to enlarge the premises without moving. We must start important building works to obtain a working space of 360 square metres on the Quai de la Fosse, which is a symbolic place of the Slave trade in Nantes.

The subsidies we obtained will not allow us to start restoration works.

That's why we decided to appeal to our readers for a call to subscription. We wish to remind you that, in France, every donation to an association is tax-deductible up to the level of 50% of the donation amount. Every donor will receive an official certificate allowing him to deduct this sum on his statement of income.

To achieve these works, our association has to find additional 76,220 euros. We count on the generosity of our donors.

Solidarity is necessary for the development of structures like Mémoire de l'Outre-mer. We remind to all our readers that our association is state-approved, that a charter accountant manages our counts, and that the association is subsidized by the State and by local authorities.

Thanks for your gesture.
The board of directors.
